Product Name:
Flunixin Meglumine Injection Solution

Active Ingredients
Flunixin Meglumine

Form
A clear, colorless or light yellow liquid.

Pharmacological Action
Pharmacodynamics:
Flunixin meglumine is a powerful cyclooxygenase inhibitor with analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and antirheumatic effects. Its analgesic effect involves blocking the transmission of pain impulses by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins or other substances that increase pain sensitivity. The anti-inflammatory effect on peripheral tissues is associated with the inhibition of cyclooxygenase, reduction of prostaglandin precursors, and suppression of inflammatory response.

Pharmacokinetics:
After a single intravenous injection in cattle (2.2 mg/kg body weight), the half-life is 1–2 hours, and the apparent volume of distribution is 243.18 ± 72.30 ml/kg. After intramuscular injection in pigs (2.2 mg/kg), the half-life is 3–4 hours, the maximum concentration is 2.94 μg/ml, and the time to reach maximum concentration is 0.4 hours. The drug is still detectable in the blood 18 hours post-injection. Bioavailability after neck injection is 87%.

Drug Interactions:
(1) Flunixin meglumine should not be used with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), as this increases the risk of gastrointestinal side effects such as ulcers and bleeding.
(2) Due to its high plasma protein binding, flunixin meglumine may displace or be displaced by other drugs, which can enhance the effects or toxicity of the displaced drugs.
(3) It is used in combination with antibiotics to treat agalactia syndrome in sows.

Indications and Usage
Used to control fever caused by respiratory diseases in cattle, as well as in cases of febrile and inflammatory diseases in animals, and muscle and soft tissue pain.
