Parameters

Product Name: Combined Amoxicillin for Intramammary Administration (For Lactating Period)

Main Ingredients
Amoxicillin trihydrate, sodium succinate, and prednisolone.

Appearance
A white to nearly white oily suspension.

Pharmacological Action
Pharmacodynamics: Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum β-lactam antibiotic that exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is effective against various gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria causing mastitis, such as staphylococci, streptococci, and Escherichia coli. Succinate is an irreversible competitive β-lactamase inhibitor, capable of inhibiting β-lactamases of types II, I, I, and V, thereby protecting β-lactam antibiotics and enhancing their antibacterial effect. Prednisolone provides anti-inflammatory effects, helping to reduce tissue inflammation and edema, thus promoting the recovery of mammary glands.

Pharmacokinetics: After three repeated administrations, the maximum concentration of amoxicillin in milk is reached at 3.33 hours (352.75 μg/mL); prednisolone at 2.5 hours (26.20 μg/mL); and succinate at 2.33 hours (134.68 μg/mL). Following intramammary administration, amoxicillin, prednisolone, and succinate are excreted with the milk during milking.

Indications
Used for the treatment of mastitis in lactating cows caused by susceptible gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Dosage and Administration
Intramammary administration: after milking, inject 3 g into each affected quarter, every 12 hours, for a total of 3 injections.

Adverse Reactions
Very rare allergic reactions to amoxicillin may occur.
